here with Angie and we’re doing botulinum toxin to masseter muscle for
bruxism or clenching of the jaw which gives you pain in the teeth yeah. It’s a common problem and it’s quite easy to treat with toxin straightforward I
will show you how it’s done so prep the skin – we’ve already discussed
the procedure, consented Angie there’s no contraindications you’re happy to
proceed. so there are certain landmarks which I will show you first of all you
draw a line from the angle of the mouth to this bit of the year called the
tragus and if you clench your teeth for me please
delineate the muscle front border keep clenching thank you – and the back border
thank you and then the jawline and then you simply divide the mass of the
muscle into four sections now it’s important to know the only really thing
that can sometimes happen with this procedure is in this point you can cause
a little bit of weakness on a smile which is transient and goes away after
after a few days or weeks that is because this one of the smiling muscles here
mixes with fibres of the masseter so today I’m actually only going to
treat these three points and that might be enough for her and then we’ll review
it in a couple of weeks and it’s taken effect and see whether she needs this

you might use for other purposes it’s the same principles
it takes about 24 hours for the botulinum toxin to be taken up with nerve
endings so in this time we’ve got to take it a little easy don’t go to a gym don’t
do anything that makes your face red or hot like hot baths or showers with
showering cooler no sauna nothing like that just take it
easy for us today from tomorrow you can you know return to normal activities and
then we’ll see you in a couple of weeks and see how things are for you. any
