Finding it difficult to fall asleep? Waking up early and can’t sleep again? well here are my top tips to get a better night’s sleep without the use of medication did you hear that Anne, without the use of medication
“I did, sounds good” so the majority of causes of insomnia are due to life events rather than physical illness like stress, anxiety, smoking and drinking too much, watching TV and playing on our phones before we go to bed and these are all the kinds of things that can trick our bodies into wanting to stay active rather than going to sleep I see so many patients who have insomnia and most of them want these, sleeping tablets but actually most pharmacists, GPs and nurse practitioners tend not to recommend these & here’s why firstly they can be addictive, secondly they don’t promote restful sleep and thirdly they’re not fixing the root of the problem so here are my top tips let’s begin with daytime habits first set a specific time to wake up and go to sleep everyday I wake up at 6 a.m. every day and I mean I don’t really like it and I feel tired when I wake up but because of this when it’s nighttime I fall asleep almost straight away and it’s because your body it loves a cycle exercise in the day so you’re tired before you go to bed and I was planning on filming this whilst I was jogging but it’s really really rainy outside don’t work in your bedroom so keep it just for sleeping and don’t take naps throughout the day now let’s move on to bedtime habits try not to watch TV or play on your phones whilst in bed or before going to bed because what it does is it reduces the melatonin we produce which is the hormone which makes us feel more sleepy avoid big meals before going
to bed avoid alcohol, caffeinated drinks and smoking especially in the evening as these are going to stimulate you so you won’t fall asleep it’s also worth mentioning that some prescribed medicines can also interfere with your sleep so if these symptoms have suddenly come about and you’ve been prescribed something new then speak to your pharmacist and they can check this for you and if you have a lot going on in your life which a lot of people do then try these calming techniques which I’ve left a link in the description below I think they’re really useful and it should help you sleep better and lastly let’s move on to the bedroom environment which I find is often overlooked have your bedroom at the right temperature and the best temperature has been found to be between 15.5 to 20 degrees use thick curtains to block out any morning sun or any light coming from street lights and this is the bit where I need some curtains to draw but we don’t have any here and lastly use the right bedding for the time of the year if you’re still having trouble sleeping after using all these tips then have a word with your GP, pharmacist or nurse practitioner and that’s it for this week’s video thank you for watching I hope you found this information useful and as always please help spread the word like, share and tag friends who will find this information useful hey guys thanks for watching here’s some bloopers from this week’s video make sure to hit that like, follow or subscribe button now to stay up to date with new weekly videos so the majority of causes of, so the majority of, majority of causes of insomnia it’s insomnia, insomnia is a

    He's right. A lot of people wouldn't have insomnia if they kept the same sleep schedule and didn't take naps within the 16 hour awakenings hours. We are creatures of habit. Try that first before you seek other treatment. Might be a simple fix for some people other than sleep apnea, blood sugar or cortisol related.

    I have a question, does chronic insomnia goes away on its own or it stays there forever. I've been searching this to google and youtube but still doesn't answer the questions. Cuz from the past 3 weeks, I'm having trouble falling and staying asleep (literary without sleep at all) for 3 days straight. And then last week, I slept normally for the entire week.   • My problem is that I rely on my phone to much. And when I've been rly tired I don't wanna sleep tho I know my body need one. I can't or haven't had the relax condition to actually sleep for a long time, and I think I need it but I don't know how, and I hate give away my phone cuz that makes me feel like I'm forced.

    I have Bipolar, and it gives me insomnia so I have to take Seroquel to be put to sleep. On nights like tonight, my mom ran out of my medication so I'm still up at 4am and am going to have to be up till at least 9-10pm today to be able to get on a normal track again.

    This is normal and happens frequently.
    Why it sucks now:
    I just turned in a job application yesterday and am waiting on a call/text to see if I got an interview. I pray to God if I get one he doesn't call/or text me for the next two days :/

    i work construction and go to the gym and only manage about 2/3 hours a night 4/5 times a week, If i get lucky i have 2 decent nights. Its been over a year, All you say is bullshit. ive gone a whole day without literally looking at my tv and super super limited phone use. Worked outside on a hot summer day then hit the gym and guess what? no sleep. I've had the same life style for the past 3 years and im a healthy 23 year old male. I hit my bed at around 10ish and would normally wake up around 5. I been taking 10mg of melatonin for the past year and nothing. its all bullshit the only true way is some other crazy shit i cant think of or fucking medicine. Everyone in my family drinks strong coffee, smokes tobacco and drinks. I smoke good weed and even took a 3 month break to see if maybe that was the cause…. NOPEEEEEE. NOTHING IVE DONE EVERYTHING IVE ATE 5 HOURS BEFORE BED I MADE SURE IT WAS LOW PROTEIN AND LOW INDEX GLYCOGEN STORING CARBS OR WHAT NOT. I EAT OATMEAL AND THAT DIABETIC BASMATI RICE AND SWEET POTATOES FOR CARB SOURCE.

    Is a refresher and a reminder. I have forgotten more than what most 20 year olds have learned about sleep patterns and habits, and that is not narcism, pride or ego speaking.

    When you get to be around 40-50 years old it's a whole new level of insomnia!! Be warned, kids. 👀👻☠️

    I'm as calm and emotionally stable as they get but I exercise regularly. About 6 times a week and at 30-90 minutes a day, depending. After I tough bike ride I can get very amped up and I'm best just left alone in my weight room, which surprisingly mellows me out.

    I eat a very high energy diet, mostly organic raw since I'm almost over the hill. I need it. I can't eat the junk food these young resilient kids eat and then ride a snow board down the Canadian Rockies, hit the half pipe or run a BMX/Mountain bike down the side of a cliff. Tricks are for kids. 😜🐰
    On a good day I would possibly
    Pass out from exhaustion and maybe even break a few dozen bones. 🤕 On a bad day?
    I'd be pushing up daisies the next. ⚰️ I know my limits .

    So to I keep the bone breaking sports far from my being. 😉

    But the kind of intense road/trail bike riding I enjoy coupled with a standard lifting routine and industrial work makes it very difficult for a middle aged man to stay asleep for more than 4-5 hours a night. We truly need 7-9 hours for Recovery alone.

    Thanks again for the reminders and pointing out a few things I was unaware of. I have studied insomnia and sleep deprivation before. It can be a beast to deal with.

  • But my bedroom is the only place i can go to do other things. My house is small and im only 13. My room is the only place to do the things i want. Such as dancing drawing playing violin and other things im into. My mind thinks of being up because i dont have any other place to do those things i do during the day…
